About sorte
"SORTE GLASS" is a glassblowing studio where glass artists Ryo Sekino and Yuko Sekino diligently create glass works day after day.
It is located in Tamba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
"SORTE" is an Italian word meaning destiny or future.
An encounter is destiny.
We named it wishing that many encounters will come to the people who get the glass vessels and accessories we make.
When Ryo was close to graduating high school and struggling with his future path, he happened to see a poster of Venetian glass that captivated his heart.
He decided to pursue the way of glass, hoping to be able to make such glass himself.
When Yuko visited Italy during a high school training program, she was fascinated by the many glass works at museums and churches,
and aspired to become a glassblower.
The two incorporated this Italian word, which can be considered the origin of their aspirations to become glass artists, into the name of their studio.
In 2012, we started our glass studio in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
Since then, we have exhibited our works at numerous exhibitions and received high praise from many customers.
In the same year, Yuko Sekino launched the accessories brand "sorte glass jewelry" created using glassblowing techniques for which she serves as the designer.
